WSRA's goals are accomplished through the work of statewide committees. WSRA members are encouraged to serve on one of the committees listed below. If you are interested in nominating yourself for a position on one of these committees, please fill out our Self Nomination Form.

Advocacy
Collecting, preparing, and disseminating information to support members as they advocate for best practices in reading at the local and state level. |
Awards & Honors
Oversees the process of granting awards and honors in WSRA for exemplary service to reading education in the state. |
Budget & Dues
Examines and evaluates the income and expenditures of the Association. |
Bylaws & Handbooks
Periodically assesses the adequecy of the bylaws and handbooks of the Association and revises them as needed. |
Children's Literature
Works with local councils, school districts, teachers, and librarians to promote the daily use of good literature and writing with all students. |

Early Literacy Intervention
Provides information and support to school district administrators, teachers, and school board members about quality, research-based early interventions, appropriate assessments, and best practices to support students who are struggling with literacy learning. |
Elementary Reading
Explore the needs of kindergarten-fifth grade elementary school teachers of reading/language arts; examine research relative to literacy programs; promote and share effective teaching strategies currently used throughout Wisconsin schools, prepare materials for dissemination among WSRA members; prepare workshops and make presentations at WSRA conventions and institutes. |
Families & Literacy
Develops and carries out plans which convey to parents the value of parental involovement in reading activities with children of all ages. |
High School Reading
Explores the needs of high school teachers of reading, examines research relative to these programs, and prepares information for dissemination to Association members. |
Intellectual Freedom
Communicates with other organizations and informs, advises, and supports WSRA members regarding matters of intellectual freedom. |
Legislative
Studies state and national legislation, disseminates information about legislation which is current, pending or needs development, and interacts with education committees in the legislature. |
Membership
Responsible for promoting membership in International Reading Association, WSRA, and local councils. |
Middle Level Reading
Explores the needs of middle level teachers of reading, examines research relative to these programs, and prepares information for dissemination to Association members. |

Nominations
Seeks candidates for elected positions in WSRA. |
Preservice Teachers
Encourages the next generation of teachers to become regular members of WSRA, its local councils, and IRA; and supports the professional development of preservice teachers in regard to literacy and literacy instruction, in accordance with the mission of WSRA. |
Publications
Sets and monitors policies and procedures needed for Association publications. |

Research and make recommendations concerning the latest in educational technology. |
Reading Specialists
Provides leadership and opportunities for the professional growth of reading specialists and continues efforts to improve the quality of reading instruction at all levels. |
Research
In cooperation with other committees, seeks to determine problems which merit intensive study, stimulates research activities within the Association, and disseminates research findings. |
Title 1
Ascertains and serves the needs of Title 1 teachers in the state. |
