The purpose of the WSRA CELEBRATE LITERACY AWARD project is to honor a local individual, agency, or institution that has made significant contributions to literacy.The recognition will familiarize the public with literacy activities actually being carried out in your community, and that it will call attention to the work that is being done by the schools and the International Reading Association in the promotion of literacy as a "universal" concern. |
Council Recognition Award (Click to see past award recipients)
The purpose of the COUNCIL RECOGNITON AWARD is to honor a council for a well-established program. This council activity must have been in existence for a minimum of three (3) years. |
Exemplary Reading Program Award (Click to see past award recipients)
The Exemplary Reading Program Award is sponsored by the International Reading Association to recognize outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Its purpose is to call the public's attention to outstanding programs in schools throughout North America. Each participating state and province can choose one winnng school. |
Friends of Literacy Honor Roll (Click here to see past award recipients)
The Friends of Literacy Honor Roll honors individuals who have served WSRA for at least ten (10) years. Any current member may nominate a WSRA member for this award by completing the form, supplying the required evidence of service, and submitting all materials to the Awards and Honors Committee.

Leadership in Literacy Technology Award (Click here to see past award recipients)
The candidates chosen should demonstrate the following qualities:
1) Integrate technology into the classroom to improve literacy skills and to meet curriculum standards; 2) Shares/promotes technology beyond the classroom. This could involve sharing at any level such as: school/district, community or beyond.

Outstanding Service Award (Click here to see past award recipients)
The purpose of the Outstanding Service Award is to honor an individual who has provided outstanding service to WSRA. |
Pat Bricker Research Awards (Click here to see past award recipients)
Pat Bricker Awards are given annually by WSRA for either traditional or classroom action research related to literacy. Proposals may request anywhere from $25 to $500 depending on the nature of the study and the funding needed. |
Student Scholarship Awards (Click here to see past award recipients)
The Wisconsin State Reading Association will offer five Wisconsin undergraduate college/university students scholarships to the WSRA Convention to be held in Milwaukee each February. Each scholarship will provide full, 3-day convention registration fees, lodging (Thursday and Friday nights provided the recipient is willing to share a room with another recipient), and recognition at a reception at the convention. |
