REQUIREMENTS:

1 Graduate credit:

  • Summarize the content of the sectionals you attended. Give complete information about the presenter and your previous experience/knowledge with the topic and/or the presenter.
  • Write a “Connections” paper in which you explain the connections between 3-5 ideas you learned about at the convention and how or what you teach. In other works, how do you “practice” (already) or “plan to practice” the concepts an/or theories you have heard about at the convention?
  • Identify 2-3 professional development goals you have as a result of your attendance and participation at the WSRA Convention.
  • Work must be completed by May 1, 2007

3 Graduate credits:

  • Complete all of the requirements for 1 credit
  • Develop and complete an independent reading list of at least 3 professional books that (1) you learned about at the convention and (2) relate to your classroom teaching and/or your professional development goals. Include a reflective writing about each book and its impact on your professional growth.
  • Work must be completed by May 1, 2007

This seminar provides professionals in the field the opportunity to select professional growth areas, attend relevant presentations and workshops, and engage in reflective discussion by planning for and attending this year's Wisconsin State Reading Association's annual convention in February. Learning opportunities will be tailored to individual needs by pre-conference discussions and post-conference reflections.
