ECARC is a professional organization made up of individuals who are genuinely concerned with the improvement and teaching of reading and life long literacy.

Our History

The Eau Claire Reading Council ECARC was chartered in 1969. Since that time, the council has grown serving over 20 institutions and school districts.


Our Future

Our Council goals include:

  • to encourage the study of reading
  • to stimulate and promote research
  • to publish best practice information
  • to assist in the development of most effective teacher training
  • to disseminate knowledge helpful to decision making in reading
  • to sponsor conferences/meetings to support state and national organizations
  • to promote mutual understand and cooperative work among educators at all levels of learning
