The Young Author Conference has been celebrating local student authors since 1991. The Midwest Wisconsin Reading Council, dedicated to the literacy of children, sponsors the conference. Each year over 400 area youth ranging in age from kindergarten through grade eight attend this one-day conference held at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. Children share their work with other authors their age as well as meet professional authors. Parents celebrate the accomplishments of their children and gain an appreciation of and skills necessary to promote life-long literacy.
We are pleased to announce this year's author, Jim Aylesworth!
Jim taught first grade for twenty-five years, and has since retired to write and travel full-time. His newest title is Little Bitty Mousie. Some recent titles include: The Tale of Tricky Fox -- a trickster tale; and The Burger and the Hot Dog -- a "riotous romp of culinary characters," Naughty Little Monkeys and Goldilocks and the Three Bears
