The primary purpose of assessment is to improve the lives of the humans we see in front of us. We celebrate who they are as they grow and make progress. We observe their strengths and use this information as we sit next to them when they struggle. We use assessments to make the connection between teaching and learning. For this to happen, assessment, whether formative or summative, must yield high quality information. Formative assessments provide us evidence of student progress and enables reflection. How can we use formative assessments productively to motivate students and lead them to self-regulate their own learning? Join us at the Heidel House Resort & Spa in Green Lake, Wisconsin for Humanizing Assessment: Re-energizing Student Learning as we take a look at how assessment can help us to improve student learning.
