Speakers

Candace Fleming is the acclaimed author of numerous books for children. She has written many picture books as well as fun, historical books for children. She has always been a storyteller. She enjoys telling a good story…and seeing the listener's reaction. She lives in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

Eric Rohmann, illustrator and author, is winner of the 2003 Caldecott Medal for My Friend Rabbit (Roaring Brook Press, 2002). He is also the author and illustrator of Time Flies (1994), which was a 1995 Caldecott Honor Book. A painter, printmaker, and bookmaker, Mr. Rohmann lives in La Grange, Illinois.

Dr. Phyllis Blackstone, Associate Professor of Education at Viterbo University in LaCrosse, WI, is a veteran educator of 38 years. She has served as an elementary classroom teacher, Title I Director, Reading Supervisor, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the states of Maine and New Hampshire. At Viterbo she teaches undergraduate courses in literacy and prepares reading specialists in the graduate program. She has used storytelling from the days of teaching first graders to her current work of preparing teachers.

Fees

Registration Fee for WSRA Members: $245.00
Registration Fee for Non-members: $285.00

Registration fee includes dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday, lunch, campfire treats, and entertainment on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Registration begins at 4:30pm on Thursday evening, retreat ends by 11:00am on Sunday. WSRA Membership is $37.00. Please use the membership form to join WSRA.

Rates are based on double occupancy per bedroom. A charge of $12.00 per person per night will apply to any additional guests over 12 years old. Alll suites include fully equipped kitchen facilities. Feel free to bring your own food for meals not included in conference costs, or enjoy the fine cuisine available throughout Door County.
