Reading and writing are much more than justsubjectsin school. Reading and writing are a way of being in the world. We want to support ourstudents on theirjourney of developing “readerly ” and “ writerly ” lives. To spark that interest we must have booksthat capture their hearts and minds. Booksthatstudents want to read written by authorsthey love. Lisa Cleveland suggestslooking at mentortextsthrough the lens of a mentor author, the person behind the writing. It is that particular author that kept us reading and that particular author whose craft we want to imitate in our own writing. This presentation will feature books that capture the reader and mentor the writer.
