Program MeetingsMidwest Wisconsin Reading Council typically sponsors three opportunities for professional development throughout the year. Our fall offering often includes a speaker on literacy education. Our winter event is often an update of best new books from the librarians of the La Crosse County Public Library. We also encourage you to take advantage of the conference offerings from the state level as well as many great offers from local councils across the state. Author's FestivalIn spring, Midwest Wisconsin Reading Council sponsors a writer's conference for students from kindergarten through grade eight. The conference features celebrated authors and illustrators, an opportunity for students to share their writing, and a parent workshop. We are excited to announce that MWRC is revitalizing this event for the spring of 2023! Special ProjectsThe Council supports and funds literacy projects through grants and volunteerism. Midwest Wisconsin Reading Council is especially interested in receiving proposals for projects that support literacy in our region. AwardsMidwest Wisconsin Reading Council presents several awards. Award recipients are nominated by Council members. The specific awards and criteria for each award are available on the WSRA website and are announced at our Spring event or via newsletter. |
